Q. What is New York New York Tech Big Give?
New York Tech Big Give is New York Tech Big Give is New York Institute of Technology's annual 1,955 minute giving challenge that inspires alumni, students, friends, faculty, and staff to come together and show their pride in New York Tech! Your support plays a vital role in the collective success of our community. This annual challenge shines a spotlight on giving at New York Tech and creates energy around philanthropy across all of our campuses.
Q. When is New York Tech New York Tech Big Give?
New York Tech Big Give will begin on March 13, 2024 at 3:25 PM EDT and conclude on March 14, 2024 at 11:59 PM EDT.
Q. What is GiveGab?
GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy to use products that allows organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.
Q. Who can make a gift?
Anyone with a credit card and access to the internet.
Q. Can I participate in the Big Give if I did not graduate from New York Tech?
Yes! Students, parents, faculty/staff, and friends are encouraged to support New York Tech's Big Give. When prompted in the online giving form, you select the role you most closely affiliate with. The gifts of many come together to support the transformational university experience for every student in a big way.
Q. What forms of donations are accepted?
MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, and Apple Pay donations received through the website on the Big Give.
Q. Will I receive a receipt for tax purposes?
Yes. You will automatically receive an emailed receipt acknowledging your gift.
Q. Is there a minimum gift?
There is a $5 minimum donation.
Q. Can I make donations via a mobile device?
Yes! Simply visit https://biggive.nyit.edu on your mobile device.
Q. Where does my Big Give gift go?
Supporters are encouraged to give to the Annual Fund, which provides crucial support to New York Tech students, programs, and facilities. You also have the opportunity to designate your gift to the school, campus, or initiative feel most passionate about.
Q. Is my payment secure?
Absolutely – New York Tech Big Give is facilitated by GiveGab, a company who has partnered with Stripe, a PCI Service Provider Level 1 (the most stringent level of certification possible) to process all gifts made through biggive.nyit.edu. Read through Stripe's security documentation online.
Q. Can I send a gift by mail or phone?
Yes. However, due to the tight timeframe of Big Give, only gifts made online, by phone or in response to mailings count toward overall totals and competitions. If you would like to make a gift by phone on March 14, please call 516.686.7644.
Q. Is my New York Tech Big Give contribution tax deductible?
Yes, your gift is entirely tax deductible. You will receive an email confirmation that may serve as your receipt for tax purposes.
Q. Does it cost anything to give through Big Give? How much of my donation will New York Tech receive
There is a 2.5% (+ $.30) bank fee for donations made using all major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express). For donations used via Plaid, there is a flat rate fee of $3. You have the option to cover these costs in addition to your gift. If you choose not to do so, the cost will be absorbed through the college’s administrative budget, leaving 100% of your gift to support students and to remain tax deductible.
Q. What if I already made my gift to New York Tech this year?
Thank you for being part of the New York Tech donor family! Your philanthropic dollars are an investment in New York Tech's future. We appreciate your commitment and encourage you to make an additional gift of any size on March 14. We also need your help to promote Big Give to others and have created sample email and social media posts (located online in the Ambassador Toolkit) to help you do this more easily.
Q. Can I help promote Big Give?
Please do! We encourage you to share the images and messages that are located in the Ambassador Toolkit. Send an email to classmates, post on your Facebook page, tweet, blog, yell, put signs on your lawn. It's all encouraged!
Q. Can I use my employer's matching gifts funds?
Yes! We strongly encourage you to take advantage of your employer's generosity to enhance the impact of your support. To see if your company offers this benefit or to learn more about your company's guidelines, visit our matching gift portal.
Q. How will the donation be reported on my credit card?
Gifts made on the Big Give will appear on donors' credit cards as New York Institute of Technology.
